Aonach Mhaca is an innovative and vibrant company set up in Armagh City to create a new Irish Language, culture and arts hub in the heart of the ancient capital of Ulster. Aonach Mhaca is a landmark building located right in the heart of Armagh City along the famous corridor which connects the Church of Ireland Cathedral, founded by St Patrick himself, and St Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral. The former fire station site will validate Irish language and culture as a key economic driver through the stimulation of local talent; delivering new employment and vocational training opportunities for the many young Irish speakers across the county and embedding the infrastructure to nurture and self-sustaining community and social enterprise initiatives. Increased funding from various sources was secured to overcome many unforeseen problems. As an all-inclusive community project, Aonach Mhaca brings together under one umbrella all that is good about the Irish Language and Irish culture in Armagh.
