AN DROICHEAD.

An Droichead opened its day care social enterprise in 2013 whilst developing the Irish Language Social Economy. They recognised the demand and believed this service would direct more families to Irish Medium Education. Already there are an average of 40 children attending on a daily basis along with 24 in the Naíonra, 16 in the Youth Club and 26 in the after school club. To develop the business, they decided on opening new rooms and thus creating new posts. There was useable convertible space in the centre to create day care rooms. This project has enabled An Droichead to grow and become a major employer in the Irish medium sector. They now have 34 employees which in turn helps strengthen the sector. This investment has in turn created additional day-care spaces and new jobs for Irish speakers.
